Winter is the perfect time for a rodent or small animal to do some major damage to your vehicle. This past week, one of our great customers was the victim to rodent damages in her car. Thankfully it wasn’t in the interior of the car, but it did find its way from the engine to the fuel tank where it gnawed through fuel line! The rodent made a home in her care that was parked in her garage. It is cold outside, and there is nothing better than a nice warm car this time of year!
Fortunately, it wasn’t the wort damages we have seen done to a vehicle. However, it was no small bill. $1500 worth of damages, to repair some fuel lines and washer fluid lines, were thankfully covered by her insurance company. Out of pocket expenses for our client were reduced to her deductible. Some aren’t so lucky.
This can happen in the winter [looking for warmth] or summer [looking for washer fluid to drink because of the heat]. Here are some tips on preventing rodents from taking up home and squatting in your vehicle.
Place fresh moth balls in the frame rails of your car – this is especially important if your vehicle is stored outside.
Place fresh rodent killer in the corners of your garage.
Be aware and keep an eye out for droppings or other evidence of rodents.

Welcome to the Kwik Kar North Arlington blog. Today, let’s talk about the effect of tire tread depth on braking. When talking about stopping power, most of us North East Arlington drivers tend to focus on our brakes. But our tires are where the rubber meets the road. So having good brakes isn’t enough. Let’s focus on stopping in wet North East Arlington conditions. In order for a tire to have good contact with the road, it has to move the water out of the way. If it can’t move the water, the tire will actually ride on top of a thin film of water.
